How to live with the status quo

In a lengthy article in Saturday's Toronto Globe and Mail, it took until the fourth computer screen to reach some semblance of balance. But the truth is that this is probably the best solution at the present time. Settlers may be split on whether the hilltop youths’ tactics are justified, but they and their supporters share a sense of urgency. As was the case in 1973, when pressure was building

Why does the truth bother the Jewish Left?

I've already discussed the significance of Danny Ayalon's video, asserting Jewish claims to Judea and Samaria, and I showed you the video here. On Thursday, Ayalon had a debate with Jeffrey Goldberg on Twitter. Goldberg objected to the video. Jonathan Tobin explains why. For Goldberg, the mere mention of Jewish rights (whose validity he later acknowledged during the course of the Twitter debate)

The Israeli Supreme Court has never ruled that the West Bank is occupied. It has assumed it arguendo because the Israeli government decided in 1967 to grant residents of the West Bank all humanitarian protections in the laws of belligerent occupation as a matter of good

Why Ayalon's video matters

Jonathan Tobin makes an important point about the importance of Danny Ayalon's (seen here shaking hands with Saudi Arabia's Turki al-Faisal who later claimed he didn't shake hands with Ayalon) video. This is from the first link. But for too long, Israel and even most of its defenders in the United States have been so intent on trying to appear reasonable, they have appeared to concede the

Creeping annexation?

Israel's Right is attempting to apply Israeli law to Judea and Samaria law by law, in what is ultimately an attempt to bring about their annexation, according to MK Uri Ariel (National Union). In the first such instance, a law passed a preliminary reading in the Knesset on Wednesday night which would allow museums located in Judea and Samaria to apply for government funding for the first time.

'Palestinians' lash out at Ayalon

In an earlier post, I showed you a video that is being passed around by the Foreign Ministry, and which is narrated by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, in which Ayalon sets out some of the basis for Israel's legitimate claims to Judea and Samaria. That video is now all the rage in the 'Palestinian Authority.' PLO official Saeb Erekat responded Tuesday to a YouTube video in which Israel's

Why Meretz (USA) is with the Golan

On Sunday, I pointed out with some degree of bemusement that Meretz (USA) advocates boycotting products made by Jews in Judea and Samaria and not those made by Jews in the Golan Heights. Here is their rather innovative theory of international relations to explain their actions. The boycott statement did not make explicit reference to goods and services made in settlements in the Golan Heights.

How to push back against anti-'settlement' BDS

If you, like me, have had it with all the BDS'ers and want to support business ventures in Judea and Samaria, here's how you can do it. There is a site called Dapei Katom (the "Orange Pages") -www.dkatom.co.il -devoted to bringing business to the residents of Yehuda and Shomron [Judea and Samaria. CiJ]. It is a listings of hundreds of businesses of those who live in these areas and provide
