Style Icon: Francoise Hardy

There is something so chic and stylish about French women.

Handbag.com have chosen Francoise Hardy as their Celebrity Fashion Icon for January. Don't worry, I hadn't heard of her either. But, my, is she stylish! And chic!

Below is what I have read about French chanteuse.

"It seems fairly logical to conclude that the independent streak in Francoise's style stems from her achieving mega-stardom in her native France at a very young age. Having been gifted a guitar on her 16th birthday as a reward for passing her baccalauréat, she began writing the songs that made her name and that would be later translated into English, Italian, Spanish, and German.

"As well as coming fifth for Monaco in the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest with L'Amour S'En Va, Francoise collaborated with Blur for their La Comedie version of To The End, and it was one of her songs that inspired Rei Kawakubo to name her fashion line Comme des Garcons."

The French certainly have that certain "je ne sais quoi"!!

This is the first in a series of Style Icon posts. Look out for more, very soon!

Tell me, who is your style icon?

Love, SG
